On the site of the old Berkeley Castle pub, the Pipe and Slippers has been serving the Stokes Croft area - and further afield - since 2004. Its impact on the community was immediate and it picked up a Theme Bar of the Year award within 12 months of opening - testament to its popularity with locals and visitors alike.
With high ceilings, dark wood finishings and sympathetic warm lighting, there’s a down-to-earth, homely feel, despite its status as the one of the area’s premier destination late bars, serving a mouthwatering array of premium and super-premium beers, ciders and spirits. A 1am licence Thursday to Sunday and a weekend roster of the very best Bristol DJs further cement its reputation as a north-of-the-river institution.
In recent times, however, the Pipe has become as popular for its food menu as for its cocktails and late-night entertainment. Focusing on the best of British gastronomy with a Mediterranean twist, head chef Neal Tatham has been quick to put his stamp of high quality and experimentation on the Pipe’s menu, but he’s equally at home turning out wholesome, traditional English food.
All produce is sourced locally and organically wherever possible, and the Pipe’s Sunday roasts are being whispered in hushed tones as being up there with the best in Bristol.
